This project initially began as a simple request to project onto a large eight-foot Olmec sculpture head. At the time of the request, I was experimenting with stable diffusion within TouchDesigner, exploring the generation of AI-influenced images in real-time based on sound or movement. It was during this exploration that I decided to apply these techniques to the sculpture project. Initially hesitant about whether the concept of a shifting face would be effective on a three-dimensional object with protruding features, the outcome turned out to be a successful set of shifting AI images influenced by sound and guided by varying prompts and the initial 3D scanned model.
